River History and Wildlife

The river runs calm through most of this area but has some fast water to keep you moving. The fishing is good along this section in the river so bring your fishing pole.

From Wysox you will travel past Standing Stone and French Azilum Historical Site by putting in the river at the boat club or Wysox. We will arrange a special Azilum tour if you want to stop there for a visit. The French Asylum Township Old Mill Park at Homet's Ferry is a nice place to stop for lunch. Ingham's Mill just celebrated its 200th year.

We are offering special trips from Laceyville down river to Meshoppen, Howland Preserve and Tunkhannock.
It is common to see a bald eagle in this area of the river. The river valleys are abundant in wildlife. Great blue herons and belted kingfishers will lead the way as you paddle down river. You may see a river otter, white tail deer, black bear, or a red fox playing along the water banks.
